LOVE. LIFE. TIP #7
declutter.
I try to declutter my house about twice a year. I don't know about you but with 4 kids it seems that we are a magnet for STUFF...alot of it. One of my girls' room needs to be decluttered about every other month (from the pictures here I'm sure you'll be able to figure out which room that would be!). I love getting all of the stuff we've acquired but don't really need out of my house. We give things to D.I., The Goodwill, or Salvation Army. It helps other people and makes my life feel more clean and much simpler. Even though my kids fight me tooth and nail when I'm trying to get rid of everything (that has suddenly become their favorite, most dear things in all of the world) they love to come into their room when I'm done and have all of the clutter gone. They love the clean space and the simplicity.
If you're feeling like you have no idea where to start in your house here are some ideas.
**Get a garbage bag and start walking through your house and just putting everything in it that you need to throw away. You'll be surprised at how quickly your bag fills up. A lot of things sit around our homes that we just get used to having around and don't realize that you really don't need it anymore. Take a second bag and walk around your house and look for all of the things that someone else could use that you don't use and put them in the bag.
Usually, this is enough for me to do to get the bug for cleaning out everything else. Remember to take things in little bite sized chunks and in no time you'll be living simpler and fresher.
**The process you see in these pictures is not my usual way of decluttering. My son decided to help my girls get their rooms cleaned out since he'd heard me talking about how badly it need to be done. He took everything out of the little hideways, shelves, and crevices and made a huge pile in the middle of their rooms. This method works also...anything to just get it all out of your life and help you to live with more simplicity.
NOTE: This round of decuttering I can't take credit for...it was pretty much Mike and the kids who did it while I was at a meeting....I'm pretty blessed...
Gracie was so excited to have her room clean again. She was jumping on the beds and feeling so good to have all of the stuff out of her little space in the world. The little series is of Grace working out a karate chop move she came up with....

Karly and Curtis...The Warehouse Wedding

best. party. in. my. life.
This is what my kids said on the way home from this wedding. They couldn't stop talking about how it was the best party they had ever been to...and really it was a kid's dream. There were mini hamburgers, mini hotdogs, blue cotton candy, cupcakes, ice cream, lime rickeys, wedding sunrises, and so much more. There was dancing and great places to sit.
Karly's family has become very dear to me over the years. I've been lucky enough to get to be the photographer for all of their daughters' weddings. One of them just had a sweet new baby girl and another is past ready to have her little boy. I've watched another daughter's little girl just grow up so much every time I go to a family event. It's been such a gift to be part of their lives. In so many ways they are loving, giving, creative, full of energy, and happiness.
Dad to this household of women, Kevin, is so sweet to each of his girls. I love to see him dance with each of his girls at their weddings and this night was no exception. It was a tender and bittersweet moment for him.
Karly and Curtis were so happy all day. Through out the night I saw them on the dance floor together and with nieces who couldn't get enough of spinning and showing off their moves on that super cool white floor.
Not only did I get to hang out with a wonderful family I also got to work with Matt...amazingly creative, out of the box, and all around fun to bounce ideas around. He designed and coordinated everything for this wedding. All of the details, furniture, all of it (and most of it I couldn't even fit on this post to do it justice)...all Matt. He's incredibly talented. I've loved every chance I've been able to work with and see him (send me an email to get his info).
So this wedding was perfect. Perfect company. Perfectly fun day. And perfect couple. What fun.
perfect. LOVE.

This is the check in place.

So all of you consistent, fat burning people....
I posted here and had a lot of people want to get off their booties. So...don't wimp out on me now!
Every Monday I will give hints and tips to help you out and also a little push to take it to the next level. Make sure to comment and tell me what you think!
I'll also be starting a contest for those that are inspired more by contests....
I'm thinking that Monday could be our check in day. In the comments post how you are doing. How many days you got to go walking, how long, if you kept your commitment to yourself to walk at least 20 minutes 6 days a week and if you're leaving food on your plate. You can let us know if you did more or less and any tidbits of help you want to offer to everyone. If you have a recipe that you think is a great one you can send it to me at davina@davinafear.com and I'll feature it here on the blog. If you have a picture of you and/or the recipe, send that too (if you don't have one that's okay). Make sure you send your info, name, blog address, etc. so I can make sure to let people know who you are.
Move it Monday. Make sure you're moving your body every day and then telling us about it every Monday. I can't wait to hear how everyone is doing at being consistent. Remember that's the most important...just do something. Move. Everyday.
So...I walked everyday but Sunday since I posted. I've also eaten smaller portions and then left some food on my plate. Except when I went to Noodles and Company...I totally ate it all before I realized that I didn't leave any food on my plate...I did order the small though, instead of the regular (that's what I usually get...). So I'm becoming more aware of what I'm eating so that's a good thing, right?
Even though it was cold enough to make my eyes water this morning I still went for my 20 minute walk this morning....I'm committed!
I'm down 3 1/2 pounds...not sure if that means anything at this point....
So how are you doing? Tell us in the comments! It's check in day....(And don't forget to send recipes or helpful tidibits to me so I can feature you on the blog!)
****NOTE: Make sure to be posting in the comments if you want to be part of the upcoming contest!****

Liberty and Nick
art and dancing.
When Liberty and Nick and I were trying to figure out what to do for our get to know you shoot we ended up with such a long list of things we had a hard time narrowing down what we would do. Nick's family has restored cars so we decided to meet at their family garage and had some fun with really cool lighting.
Liberty is an amazing artist and paints some great pieces. When I walked into their front room and saw Liberty's current project I knew we had to incorporate it into the shoot. While Liberty paints, Nick plays video games and they have fun teasing each other.
On Friday nights Liberty and Nick go to ballroom dance classes. The class is a family affair with Liberty's brother and his girlfriend and Liberty's mom and dad. We had fun with the sexy little cha-cha-cha that they learned.
I'm excited about Liberty and Nick's wedding. I think it's going to be summery-beautiful. Liberty has some wonderful ideas to make everything light and romantic.
What a fun time! Thanks, Liberty and Nick!
