goals.
Here are some thoughts to help you reach your fitness goals from my health insurance company.
Goal setting can significantly increase your chances of success and achieving what you want. Below are five simple tips for reaching your goals:
- *Write it down: By simply writing your goal down, you’ll feel more committed to it and create more specific goals!
- S *Start small: A good way to build confidence is to make small goals first that are easily reached. Build on your small successes.
- S *Set reminders: Create little reminders to keep your mind on your goal. Put something on your fridge, bathroom mirror, or anywhere else you often look.
- B *Be flexible: If something goes wrong, don’t give up. Be flexible when obstacles arise.
- R *Reward yourself: After working hard and finally reaching your goal, reward yourself! Try to make the reward fit the goal and don’t give yourself something that contradicts the purpose of your goal. For example, don’t celebrate your weight loss with a food reward.

Hi??? Karen, you're slipping. You don't have any 4th of July words of advice?!
We are doing yardwork today to celebrate the birth of our country. :)
Tonight we will find the fireworks and ooh and ahh!
I am thankful for freedom. So many people in our world are not free.
Walked about 3 1/2 miles today. I was trying for six but my husband insisted on a family walk with the boys on scooters. My youngest biffed it going downhill and it all went down from there. I try to separate my "workout" walks from family walks for obvious reasons. Today I just let it go. I know it all counts.
drove 3 hours to see college roomie in from uganda. drove 3 miles home.
now in bed w/ 101 fever. :( either allergies from hell or a nasty summer cold.
er...drove 3 hours home. slipping...
Hey you two! You are just trying to be neck and neck aren't you!!!?? I've been in and out of town the last few weeks and I am totally slipping. I've gotten some exercise but I'm feeling like I gained 5 pounds this 4th of July weekend. I need to get me some walkin'! Big time!
Karen! Oh bummer that you are sick!
I think I need to commit to no sugar. But I don't want to. :)
Bought no VOC paint for the boys room. Now "we" have to clean it to paint it!
mostly in bed today. hung the laundry.
did some ab work .... lie on back, lift legs to straight up, then return to the floor. gives a mean workout. Even when resigned to bed.
You are dedicated. Doing ab work while sick?! My hero!
Walked about 40 minutes this morning early. Then after swimming lessons, stuck in the ab tape. Did my 15 pushups to complete the set. I'm feeling good.
I have two weeks with no babysitter. All the inner conflicts come out when trying to work with kids at home. Even a little bit.
Not really working OUT. Just moving a bit ..... gets dreary lying in bed all day.
So .... I'm trying to figure out how long to give my body to recover ... I think I could be OK tomorrow, but don't want to push it. I had mono a little over a year ago and don't want to do anything to relapse, so I want to get plenty of rest .... but how much of it is me resting and how much is it me being lazy?
Rest! Take advantage of the down time to do all those lazy things like read and watch movies!
Karen,
It sounds like you are really sick! Oh my goodness! I hope that you are starting to feel better. Rest. Read. Watch movies. Feel better!
I'm on vacation and have very limited internet. I'll be back up to speed next week. So sorry I've not posted to Move it Monday. I only have access to someone else's computer and don't get internet that often. I hope you both had a great 4th of July!
I'm just sick of being sick. Trying to get rid of some congestion, but mostly better now!
So last night, I weeded the front rock bed. That was nice.
I also went to yoga today ... it helped to clear my nasal passageways. Sheesh! And did a little inner/outer thigh work on the weights, but kept it pretty minimal for the first day back in action. :)
So, after being cooped up in our "catch all junk room" for many hours today, I broke out and took a 20 minute walk at dusk. nice. :)
Karen, glad to hear you are on the mend.
I did some "Karen-cize" today, moving furniture, prepping and painting my boys' room. I will do a second coat tomorrow and the ceiling. I have such a need for change right now. Their room is a good place to start. Really, maybe I need to get a mirror. :)
Laura, did you know on mydailyplate.com, that sex counts for exercise/physical activity. It's true ... and something to think about. ;)
Funny you should mention that! ;) My husband will be happy to hear the news. It also is a mood lifter!
Walked this morning and feeling great today! :)
Glad to kill 2 birds w/ one stone! But as a nice Catholic girl, I only advise that for the married. Gotta keep marriage holy! :)
Yeah, I was feeling pretty good when before dinner I rode about a mile on my bike to rent at the Redbox (my car is in the shop).
Ok, so my husband will be the FIRST person to tell you I frequently bite off more than I can chew. So, tonight it was lovely. And my car is still sick. And I wanted to go to the library. So .... silly me, I decide to go to the library. A 2.5 mile walk from our house. One way. Laura, I know you walk a lot, but if I walk, it's between 20-45 minutes .... not a whopping 75 minutes like tonight (about 35 there and 37 back). Sheesh! But I feel good b/c I got there before they closed (only had 10-ish minutes to browse and get some books) and Google maps says it should have taken 45 minutes to walk. So I was under that. I timed the way home (I totally thought I'd be MUCH slower on the way home), but it turned out to be not so true.
So .... my concluding thought is: MOMMY NEEDS A NEW PAIR OF SHOES!!!!!!!! seriously.
A five mile walk is nothing to sneeze at! Great on that Karen! I love combining walking with errands.
This morning I did a plain old fashioned FIRM abs tape 30 minutes. Plus 15 push ups. You know you've done it enough times if you can imitate them when they give instructions. Well, I haven't done it enough times LATELY which is why I'm doing it now.
ha, i've never done a workout tape, laura. but there is a 15 minute yoga spot on early morning TV. maybe i should TiVo it ....
i took a spur of the moment trip out of town today, came back and wasn't feeling good. dumb congested head. i suppose butt clinches will have to do for today. ;)
