new contest.

We're already half way through the month!  How did that happen?

We need a new contest.

This month we'll go with the person that is the most consistent with posting in the comments on Move it Monday.  You need to post every day from now until the end of the month.  The winner will get a $50 gift certificate to their favorite place to shop for summer fashion.

You win.  You name the place.  I'll send the gift certificate.

summer. LIFE.

Missed posting on move it monday. Great contest. Summer is flying by. My yoga studio is offering $99 unlimited for the summer. Cricket and I are loving it.

Had a little minor surgery that has kept me from exercising for a few days so am relieved that I don't have to duke it out with Karen this month! Looks like the competition is stiff for a prize of shopping!

I'm so glad that summer is here. What a time of healing. And LEGO camp. :)

maybe a "post everyday contest" will remind me to update yall with my exercising everyday. so for today: i chopped and dug up weeds in the yard for an hour this evening. we had a lot of rain today, so the ground was soft and i got A LOT done. it was still a super work out. i'll let you know tomorrow what muscles it focused on--the ones that are sore.

Laura, I get the feeling you don't like our sparring match? C'mon! I don't BITE!!!! ;)

Ok, so we're vacationing w/ the in-laws .... nothing glamorous. Catching a baseball game, concert, etc. But ... my mother in law is one of those women who constantly asks if we want something to eat. Uh-oh.

I got up this morning and did a bunch of squats. Yippie! And since I've been slacking some, my muscles are SORE .... so I've been doing a LOT of hamstring stretches .... trying to get them back in their stretched out mode.

And at the major league game tonight ... we were able to take in our own food! 1)cheaper and probably 2) healthier. :) But I did have a cherry limeaid.

I had to arm-wrestle the men-folk, but strongarmed my way into hauling rocks this morning. Absent any real way to lift weights, I figured hauling 12 bags of river rocks would do!

Lunch was on a smaller, 9-inch plate. SO exciting. I'd love it if I could find some that match my everyday plates. I have found some in the goodwill store, but it's mostly china and I don't want to hand wash my dinner plates every night. Sooooooo, taking any suggestions on that one.

Karen, you know I love competition. :) Where would I be without you?!

Someone recently passed this quote to me...it is so perfect as no spot is safe in my house lately for cleaning and organizing.

"One of the advantages of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries."

Davina, I made your blog a tab on my homepages and you are so much easier to get to now! Every day!

the muscles that got the most work out yesterday during the weed chopping: HAMSTRINGS. i was really surprised about that. i expected upper body, and i can tell some of that was worked--triceps, shoulders, upper back--that's all sore, but my hamstrings have been super tight today.

so my exercise today was pilates, to loosen up some of my tight, sore muscles.

karen, what do your everyday plates look like?

my everyday dishes are red toile-looking transferware. i have the usual matching dinner and salad plates, but i also have green glass luncheon plates that i use in the summer instead of the standard salad plates. they're just a little bigger than my salad plates, so they work well for smaller meals. so you could think about something that contrasts with and compliments your dishes.

but about hand washing: my grandmother regularly uses her china and silver, and puts EVERYTHING in the dishwasher. her theory is, it's not going to wear out in her life time. so unless you're planning to gift these goodwill plates to your great grandchildren, put them in the dishwasher.

Today I photographed a 9 week old. Cute as can be. Would not crack one smile for mom and dad. Had fun doing some posing while he was sleeping though. There is something about photographing new babies. You get to start all over with each one. A chance to do something different, new and all the while loving what a miracle they are. I am happy to be happy about photographing this new baby.

Amanda ... my everyday plates are Martha Stewarts from Kmart .... they have big plates (11 inches?) small plates (5 inches?), bowls and teacups and saucers. Nothing really in the suggested 9-inch arena.

Hmmmmm....maybe I'll just get some of those 9-inch china plates and see how the fare in the dishwasher! Thanks for that tip!

Back in the real workout saddle again.

30 min of weights
33 min of bike

of course, stretching!

Take THAT, Laura! ;)
