Move it Monday.

Posted on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 01:36PM by Registered CommenterDavina in | Comments28 Comments

yay.

I'm hoping my body is deciding to lose weight again.  I've been stuck, plateaued, not going anywhere, jammed, unmoving...whatever you want to call it...that's what I've been.  Yo-yo-ing back and forth between 129 and 133.  I'm not going up but I'm not going down...

Hopefully, that ends today.  I broke 129 and I was 128.5 today.  I'm hoping this means I'll be going down again.

I decided I needed to get back to eating less and I started doing my sprints again.  I'm hoping that just that little bit of extra effort will get me kick started again.  Fingers crossed.

How are you doing?  Is there some little extra effort you could put forth that may make a difference?  As much as I hate to say it, cutting down on what you eat is what makes the difference.  I know when I'm exercising I want to tell myself I can eat more or not cut back...but that just makes me break even.

A little less food is what always makes a difference along with a little bit more of a kick in the pants (like sprints) when I'm exercising.

Good luck everyone.  I'm hoping I can say I'm down next week!

How's your self-portrait coming along?

healthy. LIFE.

I've started doing 3 min of a higher intensity during my biking. i.e. I bike at level 7 for 6 minutes, then kick it up to level 9 for 3 minutes, and repeat for 20-25 minutes. :)

Today, 25 min of BOTH weights and bike. :)

Yesterday, about 20 min of aerobics.

Yeah, eating less might help .... but it's HARD when you work out ... I just need to tell my body to 'man up.'

karen, I hear you...have you already tried eating really small meals more often in the day? You are working hard...you've got to see some results!

I love it when it's Monday 'cause we're at the top of the page again. :)

It's been hot here the last few days, so instead of picking up my son after school, we walked TO school! It was so refreshing! As luck would have it the boys woke up on their own and we had perfect timing getting out the door. My son is a dreamer and I'm hoping a little exercise in the morning might sharpen up his brain for the day like it does mine. How nice to come home, shower and have my whole day ahead of us with excercise checked off the list!

So Davina, are you saying I need to let go of my chocolate chip addiction? Say it isn't so! I find choosing more fruits/vegetables, less grains helps shed the pounds.

In keeping with your sprinting, I also sometimes run up or down the hills on my resevoir walk. I've noticed when I push myself on that walk I really feel like my lungs got a workout later. It feels like I got rid of all the stale air and blew in a bunch of fresh. A nice metaphor too. I love those.

I am loving yoga and adding more fruits and vegetables in my diet. I feel like I have more energy! I told all my friends about move it monday on my blog: www.cruisinwithcricket.blogspot.com. I ABSOLUTELY love the beautiful book! THANK YOU!!

I had a horrible day on Saturday this week with eating...like the old days, eat whatever is around and looks good. but I got right back on my plan on Sunday and yesterday I was more disciplined as well. Unfortunately, running two miles last week started my shins hurting and now running is painful--ugh! I so need to bike or get an elliptical...one of these days...

Laura, I hear you about lungs getting a workout. That is the toughest thing for me when I run...my body generally can do the runniing, but it is the breathing that limits me. It feels great to stretch my lungs and then have it be easier the next time I run...It is fun to progress!

Good luck everyone this week!

davina,
i'm glad i'm not the only one feeling stuck right now. i was planning on getting my butt in gear and running this afternoon, but it's NASTY weather here in Jacksonville...now what?!

hope to meet you and learn from you at the LOVE AFFAIR WORKSHOP!!!

d- water-hydrate yourself like there's no tomorrow! and vita-muffins! they're muffin tops with protein, fiber, and lots of vitamins! they're an amazing snack and actually fill you up! the chocolate with chocolate chips are my favorite-they actually taste like a treat that you're cheating with and not a healthy muffin! they're in the freezer section. good luck and blessings, js LOVE AFFAIR WORKSHOP

oooooooh ok.

Today, it was 40-45 min worth of walking. I just DIDN'T feel like doing anything physically exerting at all, but Im' proud to say we took a walk!

I'll look at smaller meals, Davina.

I'm getting ready to take a road trip to San Diego w/ my baby bro Friday-Sunday. I'm a bit nervous about what this will mean for my good work on being physically active. We'll be in the car for 14 hours solid the first day. Ugh. I might do some Chinese fire drills when it's my turn to drive. ;)

Still walking everyday. With baby in belly, we try to make a habit of going for a walk at least three times a week at the boardwalk near our place. I've added meditation and yoga/stretching to my routine. My doctor says my weight gain has been fantastic. Only gained 8lbs and I'm in my 25th week. Eating as best I can without using my pregnancy as an excuse to eat crap.

It is so inspiring to see you working so hard to lose weight. I hope to be at the love affair workshop to see how skinny you are.

WOW Robin! SO impressive!

Ok, I need to find a good late-night food. I am getting the MUNCHIES about 930 nightly .... tonight I'm trying a fruit/yogurt smoothie .... but it takes time to make. Is there something I can just yank from the fridge?

Walked my son to school this morning. 2 miles round trip. Love combining fitness with daily activities. Exercise in disguise! Did weights while little guy and I watched the Wonder Pets. :)

This morning walking stuff is making me happier. I got into some new old pants today. :)

May 20, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterLaura

Have you conquered the skinny jeans yet, Laura?

Ok, so my late night snacking .... Doritos at a friend's house. It was very clear I didn't need to be eating them when I started CHOKING on them. The universe is telling me NO!!!!! ;)

Laura, walk away from the choco. chips...occassionally. :)

Becky, thank you so much for telling people about move it monday and for the awesome blog post! I really need more fruits and veggies in my diet. It's totally the time of year for that, too. Gotta come up with a way to get myself lovin those again. I don't eat too much usually but I don't always eat the Right things.

Mike has been working hard this week. He's running really fast miles.

Lyndsay, walk stairs when it's nasty outside or do laps around the inside of your house. It's crazy but at least you're moving. :) I've done it before and Gracie thinks I've gone bonkers as she chases me from room to room.

Jan, I so need to drink more water!

Karen, when do you leave on your road trip?

Robin, that is such a great routine to get into when you're pregnant. Way to go!

Christy, thanks!

Karen, I know it sounds high fat but I always need a little protein boost. I have cheese and triscuits or almonds. Some fruit or veggies would probably be a lot better for me. I also love strawberries and vanilla yogurt in a cute little egg cup (the cute little egg cup is very important...it makes it feel like more than it is and it feels like an indulgence)

Amanda, way to get back to it girl! Even if it takes a while it's important to just get back in the flow of things.

Laura, you are so good at finding ways to exercise during the day. A morning walk sounds fun on the way to school. I've always wanted my kids to live close enough to the school to walk. Now we do and they don't allow it because there are only busy roads. And way to go on the old pants!!!

karen, you are hilarious! I'm glad you made it through the choking episode so that you could post it here. :)

May 21, 2009 | Registered CommenterDavina

Karen! ha ha ha!!! What a message that was! Sorry to laugh about your choking...you just make it so funny.

This morning I photographed a client who has become a friend. It was a little cool so we decided to walk the loop around the park first. There were beautiful rose bushes all the way around. We did two loops and when we were finished it had warmed up and we were refreshed and relaxed.

I also got to "play" a lot on this session and had fun experimenting with wide angle and toddler in the rose bush. Sounds scary, but really beautiful. :)

Can I just say I'm happy that I'm happy photographing today? (Davina) :)

I leave in the morning. 6 a.m. will come QUICKLY.

Tonight, I took an hour-long walk w/ dad. Awesome. But I brought some less supportive shoes for the trip b/c I'm flying back and I didn't want anything bulky ... my feet are a little sore.

I'm all set for the trip w/ healthful almonds to snack on. 24-hour driving trip, HERE I COME!!!!!!!!

May 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterKaren

Have a great trip Karen!

I have run a mile all four days this week. My best time was 7:38 (yes, it helps me compete against myself!) and it feels so good to run! Did an arm workout today and a leg workout on Tuesday. I'm going on a scout campout tomorrow, so maybe I will hike for about 5 miles on Saturday and get my exercise in "Laura Style" with everyday activities...:)

Keep up the great work everyone, and be safe Karen!

May 21, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMike

Karen, you could always do "butt squeezes" while you sit in the car for 14 hours! :)
