*I can't help it...I love this girl.*

attitude and your health.

"Does your attitude affect your health? Does a positive, happy one keep you healthier? Or a negative, unhappy, even angry, one hurt you? The answer to all these questions is yes. The mind and body are snugly interwoven, and this connection affects you in more ways than you might be aware of.

It used to be thought that the mind and the immune system existed independently of each other. But research now shows that they may act as a single unit. Feeling stressed, for example, can make you more susceptible to whatever virus is going around. On the other hand, when you feel joyous and lighthearted, your immune system has a better chance of protecting you from it"...see more here....

Thomas R Blakeslee, author of The Attitude Factor, believes that attitude can change how long a person lives.  He has two tests that he asks visitors to his website to take to determine what type of attitude they are carrying around in their life.  His theory is that people can change their attitude with attitude training spread out over a year...and that the training will prolong their lives.

Here are some tips to help develop a more positive attitude: (these are from here)

  • Don't worry about things out of your control. If you make a list of all your concerns, you'll most likely find that you have little control over them. Stop wasting energy worrying about things that may not happen!

  •
  • Change the way you think. Every time you think of something negative, immediately write down three positive about the person, place or situation. You can train yourself to have a more positive outlook.

  •
  • Develop spirituality. Studies have found that people who have an active spiritual life live longer. Join a church or study about an aspect of spirituality important to you.

  • postive. LIFE.

When I think I have it bad I try to think of others in more challenging situations. That gives me perspective. No matter how bad it gets, chances are, somewhere in the world someone else has it worse. Interestingly, that also gives me a perspective of compassion for others.

Had a salad with chicken for dinner last night as a quick easy meal.
    Better than cereal. :)

Someone told me recently that if you say something bad about yourself, that you have to (in your head) say 10 good things .... how's that to combat negative talk? I like it!

Another butt-squeeze day on the computer! I was going to go for a walk but this huge rain storm came in!

Had a healthy dinner of rice, Aidell's sausage, broccoli, peas, garlic, onions, carrots, flavored with cumin, cinnamin and raisins. ooh so good.

Walked the neighborhoods "(Cub)Scouting For Food" this morning with the family. It was brisk, but suprisingly nice in the sun.

    Hey Laura,

I've been doing really well this week. Back on my plan, walking, eating less, everything...

And then have eaten terribly today! It's super busy today and we grabbed food at McD's. I can't stand McD's I never eat there. Ate there and now I feel totally sick.

Tip of the day: Don't eat at McDonalds...not sure that anybody really needed that as a tip but...there you go...

Now that it's crunch time I've been sitting on my butt doing more computer work! I'm trying to get out the door more and keep moving!

Today I got the kids to help me rake leaves. It was fun and I KNOW I worked my obliques!

I draw the line at McDonalds. Although Burger King gives me a stomach ache too! Great job on getting back on the horse though, Davina. I don't expect you'll be tempted back to McDonald's in awhile so I wouldn't worry about it becoming a bad habit!

    Where is Miss Karen???

    Did my situp tape today.

Had guests for brunch. I skipped the pancakes but did fall off the no-sugar wagon with some of those yogurt covered fruit thingys. Still, fruit?

    Tomorrow is a new day!

i've just been up to my eyeballs .... ate less for lunch today. it's the white chicken chili we'll have tonight for dinner. i'm really loving the using beans thing. they're SO full of fiber and good things ... and also fill you up. so you even eat LESS of the LESS. Ya know? :)

Okay Karen. I thought you were giving me some slack because I missed some days earlier. We'll see when Davina does the math...

Ate well today. Rode my bike to pick up this kids this afternoon. My stomach muscles are sore which means I need to do more situps!

Made lasagna tonight with rice pasta, goat cheese, hamburger, onions. I think it could have used some cottage cheese but I was being spontaneous. It felt pretty healthy and mostly tasty. I would make it again with some improvements. I felt full without that sick heavy I just ate lasagna feeling. :)

Went to Quiznos yesterday and had a salad while everyone else ate that yummy toaster bread, with cookies for dessert. While we were leaving I remembered that I was wearing pants that were too small when I bought them. And now they are fitting comfortably. Then I smiled and was happy with my lunch.
