Twilight
the four of us.
I went to see Twilight with my niece, Ariana, my sister, and my mom. Ariana and I have read the entire series. Seeing the movie made me love the story and the characters even more than when I read the books. The movie was so well cast (except for Jacob...).
Ariana, very sweetly, waited until we were all together to go see the movie even though all of her friends saw is last weekend...and had told her how much they loved the movie...she was dying to see it!!!
I love this story!
So did you see it? Did you love it? Have you read the books? What do you think of Edward?
real. LOVE.

I just saw this last night, how funny! Davina I felt like the movie was going too fast; almost like I was watching clips from a video that I was fast forwarding through. I really liked it, I just wish it had more from the book. I thought that Bella was perfect; I laughed so hard every time she tripped...weird humor I know! I didn't really like Edward until he spoke and then I was pretty hooked. I wonder if someone who hadn't read the books would like the movie and be able to follow the story...ohh well I think it was mostly made for excited fans like us! Glad you liked it too!
I loved the series up until the last book. I was a big Jacob fan... I thought I wouldn't like the movie (because I wasn't ever in love with Edward and their relationship was annoying to me) but I think the movie (aside from a few picky details) actually made me like Edward more. Maybe they'll win me over by the end! :)
I read all the books and loved them so much, it took me 2 weeks to finish them all. 2 days for the first. I have sooo many mixed feelings about the movie. I don't know if I loved it or hated it. Supposedly it follows the book, that is what people say, but I don't feel like it did as much as it should and am bothered by it. I do want to watch the movie again to hopefully fill my mind with things I might have looked over. I guess the books are always better than the movies and I always want the movies to be exactly like the books and they never are. I loved Harry Potter and the movies, but i think only because there was such a time gap between reading the books and watching the movies. Anyway, the characters all have this scared/wierd look on their faces at all times. But... i guess you have too when you are dealing with vampires! I want to read the books again (although i just read them last month) and watch the movie 1 more time!
Oh, I'm a HUGE fan of the books. I need a 12 step program and even made my husband read them and take notes! He liked them too, but not for the same reasons! Here's the crazy post I left on my blog a little while back, http://meggievelasco.wordpress.com/2008/09/25/twilight-support-group/ . I went and saw the midnight showing of the movie on the 21st and had a great time with all of my girlfriends and new high school friends!!! I have mixed feelings about the movie. There are several things that I would have shot and edited differently. At one point in time I remember thinking that I wish they had had a bigger budget. However, I saw it again last night, and I can't wait to see it again, and I'll buy the DVD, and I'll watch it a thousand times...cause that's how I roll.
Jessica, I agree about Edward. At first I wasn't crazy about it him...and then he grew on me. That's how I felt about him in the book, though, too. I would go through liking him and then not be sure what I thought about him. By the end of the movie I thought he was perfectly cast.
Shannon! I felt exactly the same way! I was a huge Jacob fan albeit I liked Edward as well but I just thought that Jacob was just more real. And Edward and Bella's relationship was bugging me. After seeing the movie, though, I like Edward more. Once I saw the movie I realized what a very different man he is from most other movies. He's restrained and guarded because he loves her and you really just dont' always see that in men in the movies or at large in society. After seeing the movie (and after having read the parenting book I just read about boys) I realize that it could also be a social commentary on what society has given us to expect out of man. I'm not thinking that he's some kind of knight in shining armor but I think it's good for women...and men...to know that a little discipline, a little restraint is necessary when you really love someone...and that can be a very good thing. Anyway...I digress... :)
Clair, I agree the book is always better than the movie. I have to say, though, that in so many ways the movie was just as I had imagined things in the book...with the exception of Jacob and the way Bella's house was arranged....I always do better seeing movie that is also a book that I've read by NOT reading it again right before I go see the movie. I enjoy the movie a lot more. Maybe that explains why I like the movie. It's been over a year since I read the first book.
Meggie, that's so funny. I was totally loving some of the angles they shot and I loved the ragged edge of the movie. I thought it gave it more life and more depth. It didn't seem like it was perfectly polished in a way that made it shallow. I would say that the meadow/diamond skin scene could have been improved....by A LOT. It didn't have the effect on Bella or on the audience that it should have had...
i like it too!
i have read the books. went to see it on midnight and yes I LOVE EDWARD (:
I read the books all a few times through and I knew I would be critical with the movie because I was for all the Harry Potter movies. You know, when you read you make your own movie in your head. So at first I was like "what?..." but when I told myself to shut up and enjoy it, I liked it. I am team Jacob also and I hope that by the next movie he steps his acting game up and delivers. I love how straight up and raw he is. Edward annoyed me too in the books. Like he was such a cry baby about Bella. But I think I was like that toward him cause I liked Jacob's character so much. He was just so funny. But back to the movie. I thought they could have done the "running in the forest" a little better, deleted the phrase "hold on tight Spider Monkey (or whatever)", cast Rosalie better (I thought she wasn't drop dead gorgeous enough), touched up the brown roots starting to grow out when the "blond" characters' major scenes were coming up, and told Jasper to get the constipated look off his face. sorry. I got carried away. :) But all in all. I liked it. But, I do have to say I liked it more my first time than my second time though. Oh yeah. The soundtrack rocks!
I really liked it, although i never expected it to be as good as the books!! The one thing that made me so annoyed was when he grabbed his face when she came into Biology. What the heck?? That was so cheesey!! In my opinion there is no place for "cheesy" in the movie. I hated that. I also agree with Erika's complaint about the "spider monkey" comment. DUMB!! For the most part, i felt it was good they did ok. I liked also that it wasn't too polished and felt "real". But, i betcha they have a little bigger budget on #2!! I am dying to know what they will do with book 4!!!! Oh, and Jacob better hit the gym!!... ok I'm done!! LOL
