getting a healthy start.
I'm so excited that there are so many women wanting to get healthy! There are so many aspects to having a healthy life that reach beyond getting on the scale. For me though, getting on the scale everyday gives me a goal and something to measure each morning. A little reminder that what I'm doing is worth the trouble. I love seeing a 1/4 pound come off here and one pound come off there. It also helps me to recognize that I'm feeling better, more fit, more positive, more aware of what I'm doing to be healthy.
Here are 10 steps to better health that I found here.
Look through these and see how you're doing. Take one of these steps and incorporate it into your life this week. Better yet...pick two! (Kind of like you can at Panera...ummm...I may have good food on the brain too much...)
1. Eat a healthy breakfast (that may or may not be a bowl of Golden Grahams...)
2. Drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses of water everyday.
3. Take a good quality mulitvitamin/mineral supplement.
4. Connect with other people everyday...many times a day. For good health give and receive plenty 'o hugs and kisses. Talk to the people you love. Laugh.
5. Express your emotions appropriately.
6. Eat fruits and veggies. Eat the rainbow.
7. Spend at least 30 minutes outdoors.
8. Do something physically active.
9. Take some quiet time for yourself.
10. Keep regular sleep hours.
bonus: Establish a relationship with a doctor you can trust.

a little late to the party here, but I'm playing along! I'm at 140 right now... my first goal is 127 (my normal weight before my 4th pregnancy). I remember at that weight thinking I needed to lose some, but I'd be happy with that for now. I really need to buy new clothes for summer, so I want to be at the size I like before investing. I've been running every day for the last few weeks. I lose two pounds every week. And gain two pounds every weekend. :P
So, for now... my goal is to keep getting out every day, keep tracking my calories, drink more water, take a vitamin, and don't binge on the weekends!
Okay so yesterday got away with me and I didn't get to post but I hope this will still count...
yesterday I went to Pilates class and managed to drink my FULL 8 glasses of water!
today, I took a walk outside (despite the cold weather :() and got to work on the water again!!

OH VICTORY! I just tried on a dress I wore in High school. Used to not be able to zip it up. Now I can! Certainly not my high school weight (NOT going back to it; I didn't eat, it wasn't healthy), but being able to wear some of the items makes me smile :)
i worked out at home again today. i also drank 8 glasses of water and took vitamin and calcium supplements. (i *should* go to the gym tomorrow and find out my weight.)

my big goal for the month is to take my vitamins every day. Doing good so far! :) Oh, and I'm rocking the healthy breakfasts. :)
oh, also, for anyone interested, http://www.thedailyplate.com/ is somewhere that you can track your weight, as well as workouts and what you eat. It's been really helpful to me, especially in estimating caloric intake.
Wednesday Stats: Ran 30 mins. kept a food journal, took my vitamin. AND... I have to share a GREAT APP for all the iphone users here. It's the LOSEIT app. It is a food/exercise journal, a goal setter and you can "friend" up with other LOSEIT app friends to see each other's progress! :) Check it out.

i went to the gym today. it felt GREAT to lift weights. and i had access to a scale and weighed myself finally. i guessed perfectly a couple days ago. my weight is: 111.2

Hi all! I have it in my calendar to come back and post here each day and yet I still forget....darn it!
Ok yesterday was still 299, but I had made stir fry and I think the sodium kept me from going down at all...today I didn't weigh because thursday is my "official" weigh in day...so on thursday night's we get pizza...it's something I look forward to..kind of a "cheat" meal and then I have the rest of the week to work it off! Mentally I don't get on the scale on Friday's cuz it will just screw me up cuz I know I will be up. So there ya have it. I've been drinking my water, journaling, sleeping my right amt, taking a vitamin and definitely connecting with other people throughout the day (#4) and of course eating a healthy breakfast. Just tried Cream of Wheat Healthy Grain Cereal this a.m..it was good!! Happy Friday everyone; have a great day! :)
Thursday's Stats: Today was a REST day from exercise. I did prep my garden though which consisted of about an hour's worth of weeding, tilling and composting. I kept my food journal, too.

138.6 right on track for my lose 2/ gain 2 week. :P Took the dog for a walk/hike in an old quarry today, felt like the only person in the world and loved every minute of it! A couple days ago I tried going to the gym and could only stand it for 15 minutes. I've found that being outside is a huge part of me enjoying exercise.
Tracking everything I eat, but need to drink more water.
no gym today, so no weigh in. i did drink 8 glasses of water and take vitamins and calcium. seems like this is the start to two good new habits.
