Move it Monday.
the winner is...
KAREN! Way to go Karen. You are workin' it girl. I am so impressed by all that effort! This is your second win in a row. Wohoo!!
For all of you girls that have been consistent and you know who each other is...you'll know Laura. She she has told us hat she does walks for charity.
She's been part of TEAM in Training.
She is an amazing woman and in the last month has lost her sweet dad to lung cancer and her little niece is fighting Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Laura just keeps being an encouragement to everyone in Move it Monday. She just finished another walk for her dad and Elli and she's started keeping a blog about her walking. Check out her blog and if you can give...please do: Laura's Blog (http://pages.teamintraining.org/sf/rnr09/lcottril )
Laura's goal was $2900 and she's now over $6000! The fight's not over yet though!
So...if you're having a hard time getting motivated then maybe finding a cause will get you off the couch and out pounding the pavement.
Remember: This month's challenge is to make a self-portrait doing whatever crazy kind of exercise you can think of and sending it in by the last day of the month to me at davina at davinafear dot com.

YAY! Thanks, Davina! :)
Laura, you're rocking it OUT girl!!!!! I'm stunned! And a little intimidated ...
Ok, so I went to yoga today. The thing about going to yoga after doing lots of my own stretching ... well, let's just say I go MUCH easier on myself than the instructor goes on the class ... ugh. Sore, but I really needed the stretching!
30 min of yoga
20 min of bike
ps-I'm going to have to put several "sponsored by Davina Stuido" on my new porch area. :)
Karen, Congratulations!!! You did a great job this month. Good thing you did all that garden prep so you can put your new goodies in the ground. :)
This is soo cool...I just want to stare at it and unravel the mystery...lol Love affair workshop.
uuuuuuuuuugh.
no "formal" workout today.
BUT I did move 2 twin beds from upstairs to downstairs, then a full size box spring from downstairs to upstairs ALL BY MYSELF!!!!!! Lots of grunting, moving, sweat and ..... well, freaking out my cat.
Karen, you crack me up. I walked a brisk 1/2 hour plus did some stretching and toning.
Oh yes, I did some "Karen" excercises yesterday. We moved all the furniture out of our family room, shampooed the carpet, moved only the select pieces back. Today when the kids were at school I pilfered 1/2 their toys off to the consignment store! Love that spring cleaning! Get it out!
Laura, I would not really have thought of it as "exercise" but there's a calorie counting site (I think Davina blogged about it?), and truly, everything we do translates into calories burned. Some are just above and beyond our normal daily activity. So when I purge on daily activity, I don't feel *too* guilty for not "exercising" in the traditional sense. Besides, I was lifting boxes and lugging things around for about 2 hours. It's a LOT of work!
Today we took a walk for about an hour. Truly, though, Erik stops and chats w/ people, so in all honesty it was probably about 45-50 minutes, but respectable nonetheless. :)
I did "REAL" exercies today, Laura! ;)
25 min of weights + 20 min of bike.....
Karen, you are SO funny! I hope you took my comments as awe inspired compliments...because you reminded me that there are so many ways to find excercise in our daily lives. Don't you love having excercises named after YOU?! :)
Today I walked 3 miles around the resevoir and got my idea for this month's contest...move over Karen, you've got some competition! :)
It's the Laura and Karen show! Where'd everyone go????!!!
Mike???
No doubt! What happened to everyone? I think you two competitive women drove them all away. :)
You are both doing so well! I'm totally impressed and I can't wait to see your self portrait this month (or maybe it was the self-portrait challenge that scared them all away!)
Hello again! This past month has been crazy and I have fallen out of the habit of posting here...but I have great news! That month of March, working out and posting every day started something of consistency, but I have cranked it up the past 3 or 4 weeks. I have actually lost 10 lbs in that time and am feeling better than I have in a long time. I am running 4 or 5 days a week and today I posted my best mile time in years, 7:36! I have also been doing weights 3 times a week and it has been great. Davina was so consistent for months and looks fabulous...but I have been lagging behind. Then, something clicked in my head a few weeks ago and I am on a mission to lose at least 15 more pounds and get back to being healthy. It feels great to not let food run my life...very empowering!
Thanks Karen and Laura for your encouragement and example...I think Davina is right...you have intimidated the rest of us. LOL! I was impressed that you boht were so consistent when I thought I had the contest in the bag a couple of months ago...way to go. You will be hearing much more from me from this point on...thanks for calling me out Laura!
Wow Mike!!! Congrats on doing all that work and it's paying off!!! You're rockin! Glad to have you back and hear you are doing great.
I think Karen and I are going for the gold medal at the end of the year... :). It's still fun to have company along the way.
Walked a hilly 6 miles around the resevoir this morning. It was beautiful, but we're having summer weather and it was heating up pretty early. My friend's dog would only do one time around and then refused to budge by laying in the middle of the road.
Funny, I feel like that sometimes.
I better trademark my new exercise regimine! ;) But yea, Laura ... I think the point is that many things can be exercise. Heck, running up and down the darn stairs can be.
Today, I really hit it hard. 35 min of weights + 30 min of bikes.
Oh, and Laura, I'm considering the glove thrown down!!!! ;) tee-hee-hee.
ps-Mike, I wish my scale would acknowledge all of my hard work. Maybe your scale is willing to have a chat w/ mine??? ;)
Went for a nice 30 minute walk this morning. At 8am it said 62 on the thermometer but it felt like at least 80. It's going to be 100 today! eek.
On my walk I passed a lady whose t-shirt said HopeWalks. After I repeated it to myself a few times I wanted to turn around and ask her what that meant and what it meant to her. I didn't, though, I repeated it to myself as a mantra all the way home.
Hope. Walks.
I love that saying, Laura! Hope Walks...or runs...:)
