Move it Monday. Winner and March Contest.
winner.
#5 Nicole.
"The thing that has been keeping me motivated is my coffee!! Odd huh? We recently bought one of those Tassimo single cup coffee makers. It is AWESOME!! I can make an amazing Macchiato at home!! BUT, i will not let myself have one unless i get my butt on the treadmill or in front of a work out DVD!! Even my kids know the rules!! They don't let me forget!! :)"
Congratulations, Nicole! Thanks for giving us all great advice and for being part of our group of Move it Monday women!
March Contest:
The person who comments the most on each Move it Monday post wins. The post that you make needs to be from each day of the week letting us know what you did that day to be healthy or get some exercise. This is your chance to tell us how consistent you are being! So...take a 5, 10, or 20 minute walk every day or eat only 1/2 of that hamburger instead of the whole thing, or have an apple instead of the candy bar. Then just post on the week's Move it Monday post every day and tell us what you did. The person who posts the most days through out the month of March will be the winner.
I'm excited to see how well we all do this month! On your mark. Get set. GO!
The person who posts the most consistently this month will win a $100 gift certificate to their favorite store...and with the economic climate the way it is...I'm going to throw in "The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey.
healthy. LIFE.

so ... we're travling. i ate only 1/2 of lunch on the road yesterday, and didn't finish my omlette this morning. the best part is our hotel has an AWESOME workout room, and I did the bike like usual yesterday, and will lift weights tonight. I wish every hotel had such an awesome facility!
Today I did an arm workout for 20 minutes. My legs are about recovered and I am looking forward to running tomorrow afternoon. I am feeling better, which is good. I just need to continue to eat less...date night tonight and we had good Mexican food, so I probably over did it a little...:)
Thanks Laura. I wish you well with your knee.
Today I rested, stretched! Wow! I needed that! And did 15 pushups and some other floor work. The laying down twists are the best on my back. No new culinary experiments today. :)
Are we supposed to be posting everyday or am I crazy? I walked 6 1/2 miles this morning with my TEAM in Training. When I came home I had to take a shower and go back to bed! It was fun but challenging. I had a few knee tweaks but my walking buddy was my coach so she helped me trouble shoot. The best tip was to put my toe behind me (the top of my shoe) and kind of pull forward. It stretches the front of your leg/hamstrings. And that pesky little area under my knee. Having a goal is definitely motivating. It gives me something to shoot for and get excited about.
oops. not hamstrings, shins.
Today I had to work early and then spent most of the day helping clean the rest of the house and volunteering with our family to clean our church building. So, I was active, but not in an official "exercise" way. I did have a very small dinner, left some on my plate and only ate one piece of garlic bread when I wanted to eat at least five! "Small moves, Ellie." I am trying to be consistent...
Ugh. Traveling is SUCH a bear on my healthy routine. :-(
But .... it was easy to take leftovers and let my college brother have them for later. My biggest victory ... not folding and getting fries at the rib joint. Instead, I asked for corn on the cob for a side. Go me!
Yay Karen! Way to go! Fries are VERY hard to pass up, especially when my kids want to go to 5 Guys Burgers and Fries...their Cajun fries are incredible...
Well, I usually take Sundays to let my body rest, but I did do some sit-ups today because I knew I would have to check in here. :) I only had 2 small cookies for desset tonight when I wanted to finish the pack off and I had no ice cream even though the kids were chowing down. It's not much, but I am glad that I can check in here every day.
Laura and Karen, keep up the great work! How is everyone else doing?
Go Karen, on the travel challenges! Go Mike on the persistance! I'm with you on the rest thing today. I did my push-ups and a few stretches. Otherwise I listened to Pandora "The Cars" a lot today while I did some retouching. We have rain again, so it slows down the day. Also went to a meditation class. Good for the soul. :)
Ok .... so question for you Davina ... my husband is trying to be trim w/ me .... but when I leave food on my plate, he feels the need to finish it for me. Any advice? I think it's like the mom w/ little kids ... just eat a little here and there ... but it adds UP!
Karen, Laura, and Mike! Way to go and keep with the daily checking in and working to stay healthy. I'm proud of all of you! Wohoo!!
Karen, I'd say put it in a ziplock right away or chuck it or put salt all over it so no one will want to eat it. (that last one is my friend, Lauren Clark's method for staying skinny.) I know it seems lame and like you're wasting food to leave some on your plate. It's worth it though to have a healthier heart and life. Beside that, once you start eating less it's more about telling yourself you don't have to eat everything put in front of you or available to you just because it's there. It helps you to be more mindful about what you're eating, which is really the whole point... :) Good luck Karen and husband!
put salt all over it?
Uh....I'm a salt addict. One year for my birthday, I received a salt lick. NO KIDDING. Most people find my salting routine repulsive. Sad, but true.
I think I'll just have to see if I can hunt down some smaller plates ... or take less to start with.
Ugh! I have NO IDEA how you can each that much SALT!!! Okay...so the salt idea won't work for you...what about your husband? Does he eat that much salt?!?!
