Build a Bear Workshop

Christmas wish.

One of the things Miriam wanted for Christmas was a gift card to the Build a Bear Workshop.  A few weeks ago we ventured to the mall and when she walked in the store it was Christmas morning all over again.

Miriam's eyes were big, her mind whirled, and her hands felt every thing as she ran around the store looking at each of the bears, bunnies, tigers, and frogs that she could invite home to sleep with her, cuddle with her, and pretty much get worn out with love.

The store also has all kinds of clothes, sunglasses, hair (yes, really!  little mini wigs!), underwear, bags, and anything else a child could imagine putting on a stuffed animal.  This, obviously, means:

Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.

Sweet little Hoppy, the bunny, made the cut.  She's the one that came home with Miriam to get her very soft ears rubbed endlessly and eventually have holes worn in her that will need to be mended.

And, of course, Miriam had lots of help.

sweet. LIFE.

(as you can see, I'm messing around with some colors and post processing in these images...what are your thoughts?  love it, like it, hate it? do tell, in the comments...)

I really love the muted colors, I do that a lot myself so I am just drawn to it I guess, and I have to say your daughter looks exactly like you! I love that store, i get all giddy when I walk inside.

Davina, I love the way you capture our sweet missies. I had such fun with the girls there and I can feel the fun as I look at your images.

Miriam, I love you! I am glad Hoppy has a good home!

Emma, you look so grown up with your purse, standing next to that counter. I love you!

Gracie, I'm glad that Julia has a good home too. Love, Dad

I am keeping to my WPPI word..my first comment! Your girls are too cute and you are a wonderful storyteller behind the lens. I like your old processing more.

Your girls have the cutest curls in the world! You are such a great photojournalist. I feel like I was at the mall with your family just from viewing your series of images. I like the post processing, I think it gives the photos a vintage feel like my childhood pics from the 1970's. Maybe it's just me being nostalgic, but I like the post processing. I would love to know what action or Photoshop effect you used to process the images, if you could share.

Davina these are SO sweet! The girls with there purses and Emmett with his football jersey and beanie, such a nice contrast. What is Gracie's little Julia? You're really are a master and telling a story with your images. I love how expressive you are, thanks for sharing.

Julia, Sparkle and Fluffy have recently joined our family...birthday money and saving up chore commissions pays off! Gracie named her bear Julia because as she told me last night "Julia is my favorite name..." :)

Davina,
Such sweet pictures....they tell the story so well. They girls are getting so grown up. Thanks for sharing the day....
I like the processing, but prefer your original colors.
This processing does help control the indoor bright lights of a store....the colors were very complimentary to the girls .
They are all so beautiful anyway..
I had a wonderful time at your home....You have a wonderful family.
Love, Mom

Thanks for your thoughts and for looking! I think I really like the processing but I still haven't gotten it the way I really want it. I appreciate the feedback! :)

Melissa, yes, I did the work in photoshop and mixed up some different actions that I have...diluting some.

Deb, I've had a lot of people say that! :)

Thanks for the comment, Erin! It was so fun to see you at WPPI!

Mandi, thank you so much for the wonderful compliment. I'm always going for a story feel and I'm so grateful to hear you say that I accomplished that with these images. I think I'm liking this processing for the same reason you are...it's got a nostalgic feel and it makes me really like it.

Jessica, thank you! Isn't it funny that Gracie loves that name?!? It makes me wonder where she got the idea...maybe from your own Julia... :)

Mike, your comment makes our family sound so fun...which, of course, I think it is. :)

Betsy, thank you. I love it when you leave a comment. You have such a sweet way of saying things.
