Move it Monday. Away.

WPPI.

"Changes must be realistic and should not make you feel like you are depriving yourself."

I'm in Las Vegas at the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International [WPPI] convention this week. Even though I'm away and even though you have to pay $10 a day to use the spa in this hotel I still went and got some exercise.

I walked the strip for almost an hour with Kelly and got a sprint and jog in there.

For breakfast I've just ordered the fruit bowl (so fresh and delicious!) and some toast. Even while you're out of town and there isn't a gym you can still stick with your healthier lifestyle. Remember, you just need to get in twenty minutes of walking (which I've heard I'm going to get just walking to the convention--about 10 times over) and just don't eat everything on your plate...and try to keep those plates small.

You can do it! If you're here in Vegas tell us in the comments what you're doing to stick with your healthy life plans and if you're not, tell us what you do when YOU travel.

travel. LIFE.

I am horrible at staying good while I am traveling! Pretty much I have no tips, I need to see what everyone else does! We will be doing a lot of traveling this weekend so perfect timing! Have fun in Vegas, I wish I was there!

I bring food w/ me as much as possible. On my 24 hour bus trip to DC, my friend and I brought an entire bag of apples, w/ a jar of PB, and other healthful snacks (carrots, strawberries, etc) so when we were taking our break every 4 hours, we simply opted to snack from our bag, instead of getting gas station JUNK FOOD. Benefits? 1) cheaper 2) healthier.

Vacations are tough because isn't the point of a vacation to relax and take a break from everyday life and diets!! But I think if you allow yourself to indulge while on vacation it's fine as long as it's in moderation. Also, be careful of those yummy fruity drinks they can have so many calories and isn't it better to eat your calories rather than drink them.

If I could just remember to pack a pair of tennis shoes it would be a good start! Not having those gives me a "legitimate" excuse to not exercise!

I agree with Gwendolyn. I always pack my tennies and some walking clothes so it's ready when I need it. Although I'm being successful with the exercise portion of this Move it Monday group, I have a harder time with the eating. At home is easy because I don't have temptations around. When I go to my parents, my mom has a big tub of homemade cookies on the counter! Any tips for how to avoid THAT TUB?!

Also, I couldn't post last week because of technical problems so I hope you don't mind me adding to this one...

Congratulations Kayleen!!! Great job keeping us all motivated! I wanted to share that my "Christmas pants" are now getting to be TOO BIG! I am walking three days a week, doing my pushups and have also started the "aerobic slide". It is a fun ice skating like tool from the 1990's craze I found on ebay. Thank you to this little community led by Davina. It is motivating and helpful.

Also, I just signed up to train for a thirteen mile walk in order to raise money and awareness for Leukemia research and hopefully a cure! My niece Elli was diagnosed with leukemia last year and it has been a long road. In addition to Elli's illess, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer a month after we found out about Elli. My goal is not only to walk for them, but to walk for me. For my sanity, for my health, for everyone who can't. Walking for a cause is also a great way to fitness. There is lots of training support to help you through it. http://pages.teamintraining.org/sf/rnr09/lcottril

I'm so thankful to be a part of Davina's Move it Monday girls. :)
