Move it Monday.

thinnerware.
So...it's a new month! We're almost at the end of our year...
October's winner is Karen. She won by only three posts...crazy!
Karen also told me about thinnerware. I thought it would be a perfect giveaway since we've talked the entire year about just a couple of things making a difference in being more healthy and losing weight.
#1-Eat less, smaller portions
#2-Leave something on your plate
#3-Eat small, healthy snacks
#4-Walk at least 20 minutes a day
Thinnerware is a dinner set that helps you to measure your food without an additional measuring cup...it helps you to know what a serving size should be instead of what you think it ought to be.
So our contest this month will be to eat less. Put less on your plate and then leave a little (if you can make yourself do this). Get your mind and your body to stop eating so much when you sit down to dinner or a snack or dessert. Come to the weekly Move it Monday posts and post every day that you eat less than you normally eat. Practice this month taking less food than you usually do. The person that takes less food and eats less food the most days will be the winner. The winner will get two sets of thinnerware (2 cups, 2 plates, 2 saucers). **this does not mean you eat less everyday of the month to the point where at the end of the month that you are eating only a crumb of food for a meal...it means that you are going to eat less every day this month than you did in the month of October.**
Next month (December) will be a big contest...get ready!
smaller. LIFE.

Congrats Karen!!! You caught me snoozing this month!
Thinnerware is genious! What a great idea!
I have some exciting news. If I lose 2 more pounds I will have lost TWENTY pounds this year with Move It Monday!!! I will work on that this month!!!
Well Laura, I'm totally slobbering for thinnerware, so I can't fall asleep! Thanks. :)
Oh, and your 20 pounds down beats the heck outta my measley 5. You GO girl!!!!
So .... doing the 'eat less' during the month of thanksgiving ... clever, Davina!
Yeah, I think she's puttin' it to us this month! No pressure, right? :)
I was wondering how my no wheat, dairy and sugar Thanksgiving were going to go? Salad and turkey anyone? :)
BTW I made a good dish the other day...
Sliced onions, sweet potatoes, and chopped apples sauteed in Smart Balance and water. Add nutmeg and molassas for flavor. It was sooooo good!
Maybe that will be my contribution to Thanksgiving!
I'm editing today. Butt clenches anyone?
Great post, Davina! My resolve this year has been to love and take care of myself and body. As I near that 45 year mark, I haven't felt better! Love it and thanks for your encouraging move it Monday posts. Generally, I move it Monday with a brisk walk with my guide dog, Cricket and we also go to our yoga class. It has really helped me look forward to my Monday.
it's like you post what i'm thinking..."i should try a new system this month"...and there it is. thanks for the post and the encouragement and the bait. =) I will say today i've done pretty good at eating less. even had a successful grocery trip where I bought things that are easy to eat in smaller portions.
well, this evening, I wanted to eat a big pile of homemade fried rice while I waited for the enchiladas to cook.
while I WAAAANTED to eat a big bowl, I opted for a smaller one, and left a little bit.
score one for me! ;)
Hmmm...Laura, I was thinking maybe I could give you my pumpkin pancake recipe, but there's wheat in it.
Maybe just eat a lot of sweet potatoes at thanksgiving? but no marshmellows .... growing u w/3 diabetics, I never had that, and honestly .... it sounds unappetizing.
I can have pumpkin pancakes with wheat free flour! On a little plate of course! I had my salad in a small bowl last night and my husband and I split a frozen Indian dinner (not a frozen Indian)!
so, I ate a smaller bowl of cereal this morning. :)
aaaaalso, I opted to not get a role with lunch ... and ate a smaller bowl of chili than normal.
I'm working on leaving some. this 'taking less' thing will take some getting used to. i'm hungry, so leaving some on the plate will take some more discipline...
Went to California Pizza Kitchen tonight. Really wanted the soup with the salad, but thought it would be too much. Plus it was made with cream! Double no-no! Skipped the bread too of course. :)
well, i'm good about putting less on my plate. but i eat it all coz i'm hungry. gotta work on leaving a little...
I ate less on Wed but that was because I was too busy to put together a proper meal. Cereal in a small bowl for dinner.
I did go out for breakfast. Had a yummy omlette and left most of the potatoes. Had fruit instead of toast.
ummmm...anyone else wanting to snack more now???? ugh.
also ... did a 40 minute walk. about 2.5-3 miles. :)
I am committed to eating meals today! I was about to pass out for all my meal substitutes yesterday! Had a nice Thai meal and brought home leftovers rather than stuffing ourselves! It was so warm and good. :)
I'm so glad it's Friday after a super busy week!
ummmmmmmm.............
i'm doing snaaacking with these smaller meals. what's up with that? :(
but i am eating smaller. i made 1/2 my usual amount of oatmeal....it was measly and sad, so i ended up with almond snacks in the morning.
buuuut at the same time, they are healthy snacks. good, right? :)
Definitely a different mindset to trim the meals. How much to trim without being hungry? I also have taken to snacking more.
I went to an all day Scrapbooking event yesterday and packed a lunchbox filled with carrots, edamame, a small sandwich (on sprouted wheat bread), a diet coke, a small bag of almonds. I was perfectly happy with it! And the all day scrapbooking event was a treat. I realized I hadn't done it since last year. I call it art therapy. :)
Today we used all modes of transportation to get to the coffee shop. I walked, Charlie biked and Nicholas scootered. My husband did a big ride of 20 miles on his own. It is a beautiful morning and felt so good to walk and have an adventure rather than ride in the car. On the way home we explored a creek, picked up trash and looked forward to our day. :)
