move it monday.

...that thinks chocolate molten cake at Chilis tastes a lot better than a bowl of veggies?  ugh.

What do you love to eat that is healthy, too?  I need ideas! (tell me in the comments)

I'm so back on this Move it Monday thing!  I've been wanting to get back into a routine and hoping that I would get the bug.  I did get out and get moving this morning on a 40 minute walk with a few sprints thrown in to make me feel like I was getting my heart rate up.  When I got back I unpacked my free weights and did a few strength training exercises on my arms.  Yay!

Now...as you can see (above) from mydailyplate.com today and yesterday I have some big time work to do in the eating department.  Hello!  I've eaten enough fat today for an entire week.  Why does food have to taste so good...especially the fattening food?  Why can't the healthy food taste that good?

Here's to getting down to my target weight of 115lbs.  That means losing 40 pounds.  Yes, you read that right. Forty Pounds.  I mean it.  By March 1st  I'm going to make it happen.  Is everyone still with me?

I'm still going with the plan of being consistent.  Eat less, put less on my plate, and then leave a little there.  Exercise at least 20 minutes every day, and no eating after 7pm (I'm totally guilty of sitting at my computer working and eating).  And just thinking about how I can get moving.  (No more asking my kids to run upstairs and grab something for me...I'll just bring my own squishy butt upstairs and get it myself....)

it's time.

fit. LIFE.

my new walk.

I got to walk in my new neighborhood for the first time yesterday.  It's a nice walk, however, we are in a subdivision, and that makes me miss Hooper.  One of the things that I new I would miss about Hooper was the country roads, farm land that would reach for 1/2 the road at least.  I loved the quiet walks and the space between neighbors.

I do love my little neighborhood it's just different from the one I had in Hooper.  It was fun to notice how many creatures live here and how many different kinds of foliage grow.  The sound of bugs all day long and all night is wonderful.  I love the cicadas and I'm really looking forward to fireflies. (We've seen a few...).

I'm hoping to get myself back into a consistent routine of walking and working out.  Today it's been raining like crazy.  I love it.  It pours here...for a long time...and then it drizzles for a while and then it pours down again.  It reminds me of when I used to live in Oklahoma and we'd have summer rainstorms.  I loved them because it was so warm!  You play out in the ditches and gutters and the rain would just gush everywhere.  You could play out in it in your bare feet and shorts and not get cold (not the case in Utah...when it rains there it also gets cold).  I love it (except for getting kicked off the internet every 5 minutes from the storm...) and the girls got soaking wet in the 2 minutes they were outside before school started this morning.

So...I'll be running up and down my stairs for exercise today!

The winner of our June Contest is Robin Dini!  She commented the most on Move it Monday and was really trying to get consistent.  She wins a $50 Footlocker gift certificate.

Could you walk instead?

Try and consider what if would be like if you didn't have a car to take you everywhere.  How would you get around?  Are there places you would be walking to?

We are now a one car family.  We sold Mike's car before moving here because it really didn't seem like it would be completely worth it to bring it with us.  When Mike drove off last night in the van to take Emmett to football I had had plans to go get some things done with the girls. I  suddenly realized we wouldn't be able to go anywhere now that the only car we had just drove off.

We decided to take our dinner to a park nearby and then walk to get a little treat.  Even though it all involved food (gotta love that) we were still staying active.  I also realized that there were more ways that I could keep moving instead of sitting and letting a machine take me places.  It was fun to be out in the summer evening really getting to feel those lazy days of summer just strolling around town.

How could you get more movement in your life?

Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Walk to your friend's house around the corner instead of drive.

Walk to the store to pick up a few things.

Go outside and kick the ball around with your kids.

Go on the monkey bars instead of sitting and watching your kids play at the park.

Get things yourself instead of asking your kids to do it for you (you know you do it!).

Walk to the park or bike to the park instead of driving.

Ride your bike to the pool.

Walk to the library.

Find a way to walk or ride a bike to your job.

Take the stairs at a hotel (this is when I'm the laziest about taking the stairs).

Take an lazy, relaxed evening walk instead of sitting in front of the tv.

What do you do to get yourself moving?  Tell us in the comments!

the first thing to go.

How often does your life get busy and the first thing that goes is your exercise routine?  For me that was today.  I got busy, knew that the day was going to be crazy and decided that exercising was the one thing that I didn't have enough time for.

Don't let it happen!  One day you say that the thing that can go is exercise and then you end up out of your routine very quickly.  Get back to your exercise right now.

TODAY.  If you've started eating more...just a little bit lax in eating a little bit more than you were...a little more dessert.  It's not too late.  Get back to your exercise and leave some food on your plate....

your. LIFE.

lagoon.

So today we're headed to the long anticipated, saved up for, exciting Lagoon Day.  The kids have been saving their money with the plan that we would go to Lagoon before we left for Clover, South Carolina.  The last time we went was about five years ago when Emmett was six years old, Emma and Miriam were 2 and Gracie....well, the little missy wasn't here yet back then.

So it's off to funnel cakes, rides, more food, and me in my swimsuit today (this is not a sight I wish on anyone at this point...the things we do for our kids...).  To keep with being consistent we will be walking for about 10 hours straight.  I think I'll be logging at least 5-7 miles today around the park.  To make it really count I'll be making sure I don't pig out on every good smell I walk by...

I haven't been to Lagoon in so long I have no idea if they've created any type of non-fattening food...haha.  We aren't bringing a cooler because the kids have saved their money with the plan of eating in the park.  So here's to trying not to gain 10 pounds today!

fun. LIFE.
