Carla Ten Eyck
This woman is so awesome and has inspired me ever since I met her in Los Angeles. She made a suggestion for my talk that I use the awesome video that David Perry made for me last year to begin my talk this year...I hadn't realized it at the time but when she said it I knew she was right. And it WAS a wonderful way to start my presentation. Thank you Carla!
Carla did a project called See Real Women: Really See Women. It's a fabulous undertaking and I so wish that I could have been at her opening night for this show. The idea focuses on everyday women who are beautiful in different ways but all are really wonderful in unique and real ways. Just knowing that Carla came up with this project and then went for says alot about Carla in and of itself. What it says even more is the way she is totally someone who encourages and uplifts others, even people she's just barely met (me). She sees the unique and special and real in everyone and I'm so glad I've gotten to hang out with her...even if it was way too brief. She's inspired me to find a project that will move me and hopefully in the process lift others. Thanks, Carla!!!
Pictage Partnercon
Speaking at Pictage Partnercon.
I love going to the Pictage Partner Conference in Los Angeles every year. It's a great time to get to know other photographers, learn from each other, and just have a fun time together. I love seeing old photographer friends (Millie, Jasmine, Amy, and so many more!) that I haven't seen in over a year, meeting new photographers (Carla, Steve, all the awesome people who came to my presentation...THANK YOU!!!) and even more exciting is seeing photographers that I met last year, who didn't know very many people and have gone through an incredible metamorphosis over the last year. Justin and Mary are the most amazing people that have done exactly that this year.
I love Justin and Mary! (Happy Wedding Month, Guys!) They came to my presentation last year and introduced themselves. I've talked to them only a few times over the last year but had heard through the grapevine that they had been doing some really cool things. When I saw them in LA and then heard them speak I was so impressed!! They are Pictage Leaders back in Connecticut and have done so many things to bring together photographers back there. The community of generous photographers that they've built is really an awe inspiring thing. I so hope that I can do the same thing here in Utah. I loved every minute that I got to spend with them and really just couldn't get enough of being around them. They genuinely listen and sincerely care about the success of others. I was so excited when I got to see them again at the airport. It's fun just to be around them.
great. LIFE.
(Thanks to Justin and Mary for this image! Check them out.)
Nicole and Jim
Happy Wedding Day.
Nicole and Jim's day was so relaxed with all of their closest friends around them. They had their ceremony and reception in Park City. However, just getting to the resort wasn't far enough. You had to take a gondola on a 10 minute ride up to The Red Pine Lodge...which was totally fun! It was a gorgeous day with blue skies and sunshine.
Nicole and Jim knew that they would have kids at their wedding and made plans to have great buckets of fun for them. Nicole also had a clown who entertained more than just the kids! I also loved that they had their ceremony in the morning with a brunch that followed. Through out the day there were so many tender moments. It was especially sweet when Jim and Nicole committed to Andrew to be great parents to him and gave him a ring to show their dedication. I'm so glad I got to be there.
beautiful. LIFE.
For all of the moms out there.
MOMS.
My husband sent this to me yesterday.
The reason he thought it was so funny is because just this week I gave my little family a tour of our house after they got home from school. Bookbags, shoes, papers, homework, toys, and so much more... strewn everywhere. I'd had it. I knew that I had gone to great trouble to make sure they all had a place for all of their things. As we took the tour of the house miraculously EVERYONE knew exactly where everything was supposed to go!!! I thought sure no one knew. I think I said "Everything has a place and everything should be in it's place." about 40 times during our little tour believing that if I just said it one more time it would sink in.
So...so now you know why my husband thought it was more than appropriate to send me this little memoir to moms.
(we won't go into the fact that I have said probably 90% of the rest of the song, too....)
saying it more than once. LIFE.
