The Christmas Tree Trip.

The Happy Christmas tree search....
Okay...so maybe we had a little fussing at how cold it was and the snowballs that hit people in the side of the head and everybody hopped up on way too much candy after our gingerbread party (coming soon....). Even with all of that if was still fun to finally get our Christmas tree.
People say that pregnant women know where all of the bathrooms in town are in every building...I'd say that's true, too, if you have a three year old.
When a three year old helps to decorate your tree sometimes you end up with a tree that leans to one side because so many ornaments are put in one favorite place on the tree.
The Christmas Chain

Fun tradition.
Every year at the beginning of December we put together a Christmas chain. We make a list of all of the things we'd like to do together and for other people and each link gets an activity. The links count down the days until Christmas and every morning the kids race to see what well be the activity of the day and to be the first to take a link off of the chain. It's a big part of Christmas for us and the kids look forward to everyday.
So far we have:
Gone to the resuce mission twice.
Gone to a matinee movie.
Eat dinner by the tree while we watch a Christmas movie.
Make gingerbread houses
Go Christmas shopping for each other.
Play a Christmas game (we make a family Christmas game and book each year).
Go get our Christmas tree.
Decorate the Christmas tree.
Ride in the car and look at Christmas lights.
We still want to:
Take food to the Utah Food Bank.
Go ice skating.
Make toffee for school teachers.
Make a Christmas game.
Go to Salt Lake and meet up with Louis Palos and his sweet family for Temple Square lights, dinner, and hot chocolate.
Take soup to the homeless.
Make a Christmas book.
I'm going to be posting our fun gingerbread party very soon!
enjoy. LIFE.
Karen and Brenden
Snow and Love.
Karen and Brenden first met on the ski slopes so it seemed only right to have a fresh layer of snow fall the morning of their wedding. These two are so perfect together and so absolutely laid back; it's no wonder they have so many people that adore them. They listen to others so completely and smile so warmly I don't think there is anyone that wouldn't immediately feel important around them. I also loved that they were all about leaning away from the traditional. We (Johanna and I---more about that in a minute) met Karen while she got her hair done at the Reflections Salon. Chad did a gorgeous job on her hair and has me convinced that I need to come see him for a great hairstyle. After some fun laughs with Karen and Chad, Johanna and I headed over to Happy Sumo to where Brenden and the guys were having lunch.
Brenden wanted to get pictures of Karen meeting his sweet little nieces for the first time (especially since they wouldn't be at the dinner that night) so we met up with them at Costa Vida and went back to their condo in The Gateway to meet up with Karen. After making sure that the blue coolers made it safely into one car Karen and Brenden went to the temple to be married.
When Karen and Brenden came out of the Bountiful Temple they couldn't stop smiling and everyone was so happy for them. After freezing half to death as the sun went down we were all ready to get on over to Rodizio Grill for warmth and good food. It was so fun to see Karen and Brenden interact through out the day of running around town together. THey went with the flow no matter what. In fact, I remember Karen saying as she was getting her hair done that one day a while back she decided that she was just going to let be whatever happened. She'd done what she could and she'd just be happy with whatever turn of events things took. From that moment on she was so relaxed. She is very wise.
Karen and Brenden, thank you so much for letting Johanna and I be part of your wonderful day. We had such a great time with and were so inspired by the way you were both so relaxed and patient with the way things went through out the day. Your happy perspective made the day so perfect!
NOTE: There is something different about this wedding from all of the others that I've posted....Johanna, our new associate photographer at Davina Studios! The first 10 couples to book with Johanna get to have me as a second shooter at their wedding. Karen and Brenden were the first to book with her and she is going to book up very quickly so make sure to contact the studio for more information: davina@davinafear.com The first set of images is Johanna's and the second set are some of mine....

Who Inspires you...
Just before I posted about my experience with Saylor I posted this.
I would love to hear about someone who inspires you in your life and the opportunity to photograph the turmoil and struggle that makes us real, makes us human, makes us more than we thought we were. It moves me...and it's amazing to be with people who give their lives for something or someone else.
If you know someone with a story that moves you, please send me an email and their story at davina@davinafear.com.
